Like I...Yeah, the already wounded are easy targets. Like I was; one who was raped at 12, and struggling with same sex attractions beginning when I was in my early teens. Easy prey in my early 20's for a pastor to say he could "cure" me of my lesbian feelings if I went to bed with him, because everyone KNOWS a REAL Christian can't struggle with homosexuality!Elisabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14764962887542099106noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874123597623259718.post-48475436213925739212010-01-27T17:29:11.645-06:002010-01-27T17:29:11.645-06:00"Where are the broken hearts among the Baptis..."Where are the broken hearts among the Baptist leadership and congregants???"

They do not care about souls.Lydiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17367390474045060624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874123597623259718.post-26542454508063570962010-01-27T16:33:22.229-06:002010-01-27T16:33:22.229-06:00Again, sorry about all the mistakes!Again, sorry about all the mistakes!Johnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874123597623259718.post-73892063913472380452010-01-27T16:27:33.868-06:002010-01-27T16:27:33.868-06:00Christa,
Iwas endorsed by what was then caed the H...Christa,
Iwas endorsed by what was then caed the Home Mission Board to be a volunteer chaplain for several police departments. An application was sent to and I then had an interview of about 30 mins. over dinner with someone the Board sent. Most publc organizations requirea denominational endorsent before they will allow a person to be a chaplain.
Ths has become a very controversial situation since there are no Biblcal qualifications given for a chaplain. Many women serve as hospital chaplains and other institutional chaplains as well. The SBC for a while refused to endorse them because they were women. That policy was later changed as it vry well should have been.
Another sign of the incosistancy of the power players of the SBC is that they will endorse a woman as a chaplain saying that are no Biblical qualifications but refuse a person who has gone through a divorce saying he must be, "the husband of one wife"!
I speak from personal experience on this. I have suffered great sess because of this unchristian slander of The Word! In all the years of service as a chaplain I never had someone, say a person bent on suicide, ask me if I was divorced or not before I was allowed to help.
I see chaplains inthe same light as any other worker at the church. Yes they have a ministry tht encourages people to trust them but no they are not on the same ministry level as a pastor.
here is a lot more to this tan I hve taken time to share. Suffice to say, a chaplain endorsement is a direct act by the SBC and therefore the SBC should be held legally responsible for their endorsements.Johnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874123597623259718.post-56780050123817777842010-01-27T16:11:20.860-06:002010-01-27T16:11:20.860-06:00"Where are the broken hearts among the Baptis..."Where are the broken hearts among the Baptist leadership and congregants???"

This is always the part that I find the most incomprehensible of all. It's one thing to accept that there are people, including clergy, who do terrible things. But the part I can never wrap my head around is the reality of so many countless others who simply shrug and act as though it's no big deal. The blind-eyed masses are what I can never come to terms with. Where are their broken hearts?Christa Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04560409585720043015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874123597623259718.post-66729460140240602382010-01-27T13:46:02.843-06:002010-01-27T13:46:02.843-06:00No surprise that those who are already wounded and...No surprise that those who are already wounded and vulnerable would be of even less important to Baptist leaders. Those young people were there to be helped. Instead they were powerless against a twisted pervert wearing a clergy mask.
Where are the broken hearts among the Baptist leadership and congregants???
I keep waiting for brokenness and repentance from the Baptist leaders.... from the ministers who have hurt so many by turning a blind eye to clergy sexual abuse, for their disregard of the wounded.
The most simple scriptures are ignored. There is no regard for our weaker brother, for causing them to stumble, for living our lives completely opposite from the good Samaritan and Jesus.
If I as a believer don't understand this how is the "world" suppose to understand and see Christ in "Christians"??gmommyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11713588262748876624noreply@blogger.com
